Day 1: Meet us in Munich! We'll meet at the hotel before heading out to a welcome dinner at a local brewery beer hall with a special barrel tapping just for our table! Day 2: A guided city walking tour of Munich's old town, including visits to Marienplatz, Viktualienmarkt (Munich's central food and craft market and bier garden), and the Hofbrauhaus, as well as a walk through the English Garden to watch the surfers (yes, surfers!) and relax with a beer in the Chinese Tower Bier Garden. We'll also have afternoon/evening free time for lederhosen and dirndl shopping- Oktoberfest won't be complete without them! |
Day 3: We'll grab the train to the town of Fussen in the Bavarian Alps for lunch overlooking beautiful Alpsee lake and a guided tour of Mad King Ludwig II's Neuschwanstein Castle, the famed inspiration for the Disney castle. Day 4: A private bus will pick us up to head north to Bamberg, an historic medieval town in the Franconia region and UNESCO World Heritage site. On the way, we'll stop for a scenic ferry ride through the Danube River Gorge to Weltenburg Monastery Brewery, the second oldest continually operating brewery in the world. We'll also visit the nearby town of Kelheim for a tour and sampling at Schneider Weissbier Brewery, then stop at a local hops farm for a tour and sampling before arriving in Bamberg. That evening, we will check into the historic Fassla Brewery and Guesthouse and enjoy dinner in the beer house below the guest rooms. |
Day 5: We'll start our day with a private tour and tasting at Weyermann Malt Factory, one of the world's oldest malt factories now supplying breweries all over the world. Afterward, we'll head to Spezial Brewery for lunch and then enjoy an historic city tour and beer loitering stops.
Day 6: After traveling back to Munich and checking into our hotel, we'll take the train to historic hilltop Andechs Monastery Brewery for a tour of the monastery grounds and snacks and beer in one of the monastery beer gardens overlooking the Bavarian countryside. For dinner, we'll head down to a lakeside beer garden overlooking Lake Ammersee. |
