Day 1: Meet us in Brussels!
We’ll meet at the hotel before heading out to a welcome dinner for some classic moules frites and our first Belgian beers as a group! Delirium Tremens Cafe will be our dessert stop. Day 2: We’ll kick off the day with a guided walking tour of Brussels, featuring the historic city center. After the tour, we'll grab lunch at a local beer café, followed by walk to Cantillion Brewery for a tour and sampling. The beer tour will continue with a guided beer tasting at a beer cafe by a local expert covering the basics of Belgian beer styles and history. Then enjoy a free evening in Brussels! Day 3: We will transfer cities by a short intercity train trip for a two night stay in Ghent, an architecturally medieval city. We'll meet up with our local guide and enjoy lunch at a local Belgian cafe followed by walking tour of Ghent. Come mid-afternoon, guests will be set free with some great recommendations. Options will include beer cafes to visit and/or a tour of Gravensteen Castle (built in the 12th century). Day 4: Day trip by train to Bruges, perhaps the most charming preserved medieval city you'll ever visit. We’ll enjoy lunch and a beer tasting at De Halve Maan Brouwerij. After lunch, we will explore the city together with our local guide with a stop for sampling delicious local chocolates followed by Bourgogne de Flandres, another brewery in this historic city.
Day 5: A private coach will pick us up to head to the Netherlands! Along the way, we’ll dine, sample, and tour at the world-famous La Trappe Trappist Monastery, Brewery and Restaurant. We’ll depart La Trappe early afternoon and turn our compass towards the Keukenhof Royal Garden, one of the world’s largest flower gardens. Here, the group will wander through the stunning spectacle of the Netherlands famous tulips gardens, truly a bucket list item. That evening, we'll arrive in Amsterdam, our home for the next 4 nights.
Day 6: We’ll get our orientation to this extraordinary canal belted city referred to as "the Venice of the North" with a walking tour of the city center together with local WWII history. One cannot visit Amsterdam without sailing down it’s harbors on a local canal cruise. We’ll see Amsterdam from a unique perspective, with local cheese and drinks aboard the vessel. Lunch will be had at Proef Lokaal A. van Wees, a restaurant in the historic local distillery that provides a nice sampling of local Genever, aka Dutch Gin. The group will be offered an early afternoon stop at local beer cafe In de Wildeman but then freed to explore the canal district on their own.
Day 7: We’ll see the countryside of the Netherlands narrated by our local guide aboard a private coach on our way to Giethoorn. Giethoorn is an enchanting Dutch village where the inhabitants are only able to reach their homes by boat, bike or foot. We’ll board a small cruise boat for a tour of the town. Guests will be given free time to explore this canaled little village. Returning back to Amsterdam mid–late afternoon, guests will have time to freshen up before the group Farewell Dinner at a local Indonesian restaurant for a classic Amsterdam Rice Table dinner. Day 8: KING'S DAY!
King’s Day isn’t really a group tour type of activity. It’s a street party all throughout town! It’s best enjoyed exploring the city in small groups. We’ll meet the group in the morning for some coffee and talk about the options everyone can choose for themselves for the day. Rest of the day free to explore and party! |

1. Local Tour Guides - We don't live in Belgium but we have lived in Europe and have traveled extensively. Even so, we feel that our tour guests are best served by using local tour guides that we have established relationships with for our tours. The experience is so much more rich when stories are heard from people who live in the areas we are visiting.
|
2. Small Group Sizes - We believe that small group sizes make for better experiences. Small groups allow our guests to form closer relationships with us, our local guides and each other It also gives us more intimate access to places, restaurants and attractions.
Minimum: 8 Maximum: 12 |
3. It's not only about beer and breweries - We love beer and learning it's history and cultural implications. But we're not a one trick pony only visiting breweries all day, every day. (if you've seen one room of stainless steel tanks...)
We love all sorts of history, culture, food and attractions so we blend our thirst for great local beer with local history, culture and attractions. And at the end of a day of touring, we'll find a great spot to sit back and enjoy our Drinkable Destination! |
